Tenerife is a brilliant place to visit if you want to enjoy relaxing by the beach and soaking up the rays, but that’s far from all it has to offer. One of the other most impressive things on offer in Tenerife in fact is the clubs and bars of which there are many to choose from, as well as just generally the great atmosphere and cheap drinks.
However there is certainly an art to making the most of a night out in Tenerife, so here we will look at how to do that and how to really enjoy your evening in this great party destination.
Haggle
When you go to one of the main strips you are likely to be accosted by people who work for bars the minute you step out of the taxi. They will offer you everything under the sun to get you into their bar and this will usually include free champagne, loads of free drinks and shots and a promise of the best night in Tenerife (of course you’ll also be agreeing to spend a certain amount as a result).
First of all – don’t be too blown away by what sounds like amazing offers. They might sound very promising but that champagne isn’t really champagne and you’ll be able to get just as many free drinks wherever else you go. At the same time though don’t be put off by the heavy handed sales techniques if you are interested in going as you can still have a great time in these places. Just make sure you walk around a bit first, get a chance to see what’s on offer and haggle to make sure you get the very best deal with the guys outside – if they don’t like it you can move on and get the same deal at the next place.
Bar Crawls
While you should certainly spend some nights in Tenerife on your own to explore what’s on offer, you should also go on some of the pre-arranged bar crawls and theme nights if you want to have a great time. The best of these are the ones organized by the club reps such as the school disco nights and the foam parties. While these might seem like ‘organized fun’, you’ll find that this is the best way to get a real party atmosphere and also the best way to meet other travellers – and the best way to meet members of the opposite sex if that’s partly what you’re here for (which it almost certainly is…). Boat parties are also always good fun.
Regular Bars
There are also a good number of quieter pubs, restaurants and bars around Tenerife and it’s advisable to try finding somewhere near your hotel to make your regular. If you start nights here regularly, the staff will come to recognize you and if you tip well (a good piece of advice in itself) then you’ll find that you start to get discounts and great deals meaning you can begin every night more cheaply and already feeling loose and fancy free.
Talk to People
The main piece of advice when you’re on holiday though is to just make sure to talk to people and not to be too insular. What will make your holiday memorable will be chatting to people you meet along the way and that’s how you’ll have the great stories and memories – so be brave and chat to people or offer them to get involved in your drinking games and you might make some new friends.
