Top Five Relaxing Things to do in Tenerife

After working hard and enduring the hustle and bustle of city life every day, sometimes all I want to do is take it easy and relax when I’m on holiday. Although there are plenty of action-packed things to do in Tenerife, there are also loads of ways to unwind and chill out.

If you’re planning on visiting Tenerife soon and could do with a bit of rest and relaxation yourself, take a look at my favourite ways to relax in Tenerife which are sure to leave you feeling rested and ready to take on anything.

Enjoy a round or two of golf

I was first introduced to golf earlier this year and since then it has become one of my favourite ways to relax. There are a number of courses to choose from on Tenerife, scattered all over the island and thanks to the year-round pleasant climate, you can play at any time of the year.

Amarilla Golf is one of the top courses on the island and comes with stunning views which stretch across the undulating greens up to the dramatic mountains and down across the glittering ocean. If a round of golf isn’t relaxing enough for you, you can always enjoy a cocktail or two at the club house.

Explore some vineyards and indulge in wine tasting

Wine lovers won’t want to miss the chance to visit one of the numerous vineyards in Tenerife. My most favourite wine is produced here and when the opportunity arose for me to take a trip to the vineyard where it’s made, I snapped up the chance.

I spent the morning wandering around the huge Flor de Chasna vineyard where I got to see behind the scenes and learn exactly how the wine is made. Afterwards I got to try small samples of all the different wines the vineyard produces. Not only is this a must for wine lovers, but it’s a great way for anyone to unwind – whether you’re a wine drinker or not.

Pamper yourself at the spa

It doesn’t get much more chilled out than enjoying a deep heat mud massage carried out by a qualified masseur or daydreaming whilst soaking in a warm, bubbling hot tub. There are plenty of spas in Tenerife – some of which are standalone spas and some of which are part of a hotel. I had chosen our hotel mostly because of its spa, and I certainly tried my best to work through as many of the therapies as I could.

Work on your tan at the beach

Taking it easy on the beach has got to be one of the best ways to forget about your hectic life back home whilst also earning yourself a golden tan. I love getting comfy on a Balinese-style sun bed on Playa Fañabe or listening to the rustling palms in the gentle breeze on Las Teresitas whilst soaking up some sunshine.

If I take a good book with me I can while away a whole day doing nothing more than lounging and dozing. There are also some great beach bars onsite which serve the most amazing freshly-prepared cocktails – that’s usually more than enough reason for me to grab my beach bag and hit the coast.

Discover the walking trails in the mountains

After spending so much time in the city, I always find getting out and about and really connecting with nature always helps me to relax. There’s nothing quite like being alone in the forest, surrounded by stunning plant life and beautiful landscape.

Some of the trails in Tenerife are quite difficult to follow, due to lack of signage, so I always remember to take a map and my mobile with me – just in case I get completely lost. There are plenty of different trails to choose from – with everything from eight hour hikes to leisurely two hour strolls – so you can enjoy a different experience each time.
