I have yet to find a coastal walk from Callao Salvaje to Playa San Juan (someone put the Abama Resort and the Ritz Carlton in the way) so, for now, we will pick this up at San Juan. (By the way; have you noticed how Barranco Abama sounds awfully like Barack Obama…just sayin’).
Again I’ve split this into 2 parts but it is do-able in one go for those who wish a workout. Starting at the Promenade and harbour of Playa San Juan just keep to the coast, the first 3km is good pavement with places to sit and take in the views out over the water to La Gomera, eventually you run out of pavement at the Desaladora de Guia de Isora.
The rest of the path narrows and is eroded in places but is still easy to follow with great little bays and views.
Keep on the path by the coast, skirting the banana plantation, picking up the coastal pavement again at the palm tree lined road as you enter Alcala and follow this down hill to the square and harbour where you will find several good cafés and restaurants.
Follow the promenade beyond the harbour and on past the swim pools and beaches in front of the Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora Hotel until the promenade ends.
